Our Efforts Towards Sustainability

We've always prioritized responsible business practices. Now, we're actively working to implement sensible sustainability measures with the aim of benefiting both our customers and the environment.

Presenting Our Sustainability Report

Our aim is to share our current sustainability standing, highlight our strengths, and identify areas where our journey has just begun. The process of compiling this report itself has been enlightening, helping us take stock of our initiatives and identify gaps in data or areas where we've yet to start our efforts.

Introducing Recycled Prusament PLA and PETG

Prusament Recycled is our proprietary filament, precision-manufactured to a ±0.05mm tolerance. Crafted from 100% recycled Prusament materials, each batch offers a unique color. We’ve also launched Prusament Refill (PLA and PETG) to encourage the repeated use of the same spool.

To know what environmental benefits our recycled filaments have, we have calculated their impact on the environment. See the Life Cycle Assessment here.

One of our commitments is to produce 3D printers that comply with the principles of the circular economy. In practice, it means a product that is easy to maintain, update or repair. And at the end of its lifecycle, the components could be recycled or reused.

Built to Last: Our Low Warranty Claim Rates

Our printers are designed for durability, a reaction to the prevalent ‘disposable electronics’ trend. Each component is purposefully included and built for function and efficiency. This focus on quality and repairability has resulted in warranty claim rates being less than 0.3%, underlining our commitment to long-lasting products. To learn more about our quality management, see the Sustainability report, pages 49-51.

We stopped labeling PLA a biodegradable material

The material is degradable in industrial composting plants. However, the theory is different from practice. This is due to the difficulty in identifying the material, the lack of functioning systems to sort and collect the material, and the fact that industrial composting plants willing to process PLA are practically non-existent.

A Glimpse at Our Carbon Footprint

We wanted to have a comprehensive overview of our impact on the environment, so we started by calculating the carbon footprint associated with our business. The carbon footprint was calculated according to international GHG protocol and ISO 14064-1. See pages 28 and 29 in our Sustainability report.
